Mission Springs

Historical Marker about the mission in Landa Park.
This is a stream right next to the marker, taking a closer look you can see the springs bubbling up. There were at least 3 right in this area.
Align CenterI found this interesting bit of history yesterday morning when I was out walking with a friend. The marker is at Landa Park in New Braunfels. A mission was started there, but unfortunately didn't last but a few years. Part of the reason it was chosen was for the springs that come up from under the ground and the near by Guadalupe river. Another reason was that the Indians in the area would not go to the Alamo mission.

Sky Watch Friday

As I was going through some pictures, I discovered this rainbow. I took this at the Texas coast in a town called Rockport. It's a great town with a fishing and a wonderful beach for the kids . The beach is in the bay, so the waves are not usually too big. I love this old motel as they have cabanas right over the water- you can fish off the deck. Lots of fun!
Can you find the owl?

Bracken Store Cafe

This is a fun place to go for lunch or dinner. The building sits right by the railroad track that goes thru Bracken, I can imagine how it was a long time ago with the old timers sitting around passing the day. LOL
I had lunch with a dear friend here. They have really good big hamburgers, fried pickles (if never tried it - you need to!) and fried catfish on Fridays. I like the egg salad sandwiches they have occasionally.
Today, I had a "taco" salad with grilled chicken. Trying to stay good on my plan to eat healthier.

Skywatch Friday

I took this the other morning, it was a nice crisp morning and the temperature got up to the mid 60's. There was a low layer of mist that the sun reflected as it rose.

2009 A New Year

As my habit, I was up before the sun this first day of the new year.
I took this from my front door. I had already walked my dog this morning and really didn't want to have to put my coat back on.

The promise of a good day is what I always see in a sunrise.
Today, the promise of a good year.

New Years Eve

It's a new year! Welcome 2009!
We spent New Years Eve with friends playing cards and domino's waiting for the countdown. As you can see we counted down with the Hemisphere Tower in San Antonio. It was a fun night. Be sure and eat at least a spoonful of black eyed peas for good luck! LOL
I'm wishing everyone a blessed year ahead!
